Cincinnati, Oh . - August 5, 2002 - The Martin and Associates softball team won their division with a record of 6-1. This is the fifth year that Martin and Associates has fielded a team for summer softball leagues, and while there were some seasons that were better than others, this is the first time that the team was the league winner.

Martin and Associates participates in the softball league for a couple of reasons. Certainly, one reason is the fact that most of the members of the team really love playing sports, and softball especially. Another reason is the camaraderie that results from playing together, something you don't always get when just working together. And everyone helps out on the team. Company Senior Manager, Jeff Rose, stated that "I'm just a role player," but his role was rather large filling in for people who couldn't make it and playing in most of the 7 game season while managing personal requirements that include a 1 year old child, Ryan. Even Brett Pensinger, who dislikes playing softball more than anyone else you will ever see, filled in for one plate appearance when a seemingly rain-called game resumed after one player had already left.

Mike Huber, who ran most of the administrative and coaching duties, said smugly, "As good as a coach as I am, I still think the team deserves all the credit." His job was definitely difficult as one of the most challenging aspects of fielding this softball team is making sure that there are ten players at the game. This is not an easy task when managing a team of consultants who have widely varying schedules. Almost every game someone wasn't able to make the game and Mike coordinated getting a replacement.

In all, the team enjoys playing softball, and enjoyed the successful season. Anyone in the Cincinnati area is welcome to watch the champions take the field again next summer at the Triple Creek Softball Fields.
